Annecy (the sequel!) - 2005
This was a great trip. I got to fly with my twin brother Jason, parents Janet and Brian, girlfriend Emmalyn and friends Suzanne, Andy and Chris

DAYS NUMBERED AS -4,-3 etc WERE BEFORE THE TRIP (this was confusing Jason a little bit)
(Day -4) (Day -3) (Day -2) (Day -1) (Day 1) (Day 2) (Day 3) (Day 4) (Day 5) (Day 6) (Day 7) (Day 8

Day 1
Tuesday 26th July 2005

Five of us travelled from London to Geneva, where we picked up a car and drove to Annecy.....badly!

The flight to Geneva was fairly short and we were fortunate that we were able to take the paragliders as sports equipment, despite hearing that other pilots had experienced difficulties recently (I never have). We arrived to find that my booking for a rental car was not valid since I had booked it for 10am and we arrived around 5pm! Fortunately the nice woman at the desk sorted it all out for me and we were soon heading to Annecy. The plan had been for me to lead the way, but I managed to lose the other car straight away so the two cars made there way separately to the bed and breakfast that we were staying in. We arrived within minutes of each other.
Annecy is very easyto get to from Geneva airport. Basically you follow the signs for France and then follow signs for Annecy, pretty simple really. When we arrived in Annecy I decided to take the more scenic East road to the south end where we would be staying, a place called Marlens which is just 10 mins from the turn off leading to the famous Col de la Forclaz launch site. We were greated with a delicious meal when we arrived at the bed and breakfast by our host Beverley. Just as I was getting stuck into my food, the phone rang and I had to go and pick up Chris and Suzanne (friends who just happened to be in France when we were). Emma came with me and we set off at dusk to pick them up from the station. Chris had borrowed someone elses mobile phone after discovering his did not work. We found them easily enough and started to head back. It was now dark and the familiar mountain backdrop was no longer visible for navigation. I could not find any signs for the lake and we were soon lost. We eventually got back enroute after paying a few tolls and sat down to eat dinner. Chris and Suzanne joined us too before retiring to their own separate accomodation in the local paragliding school down the road.
I slept very well that first day.
