Annecy (the sequel!) - 2005

This was a great trip. I got to fly with my twin brother Jason, parents Janet and Brian, girlfriend Emmalyn and friends Suzanne, Andy and Chris DAYS NUMBERED AS -4,-3 etc WERE BEFORE THE TRIP (this was confusing Jason a little bit)

Sunday 24th July 2005

Before travelling to Annecy and having a great time paragliding in the French Alps, Emmalyn and I first had to make it to the UK from Canada.

WE took the cheapest flights we could find, setting off on Saturday night and arriving at 4am on Sunday morning. Mum, dad and Jason were generous enough to pick us up from the airport. We had a lot to organise before the trip since we first had to pick up our wings from Green Dragons Paragliding School. They had been checked over and the reserve parachutes repacked. There had not been time for the harnesses to be repaired so that would be a job for us to do before we left for France.

Since Gatwick is not too far from Green Dragons Paragliding School it would have been pretty handy to drive straight there to collect the wings before heading back to my brother's house in Harrow. Unfortunately they weren't open at 5am in the morning so we drove to my parents house in Chatham first to get some breakfast (tasty fry up) and get our heads down for a few hours sleep.

We were soon back on the road down to Surrey and then on the final leg to Harrow. All in all we had been travelling for almost 24 hours (with breaks) and were feeling just a little shattered. We still had not sorted out the camera mounts to film the paragliding , in-flight. Not having access to my harness in Canada meant that I had not had the chance to rig up any camera mounts so I decided that the day before we flew to Annecy I would hit the hardware shops and buy some random odds and ends that could be turned into something resembling a camera mount when we arrived in France.
That was the plan anyway, but all that could wait 'til tomorrow.
