Alpine Sky Tours - 2004

I would like to thank Dave, Toby & Fritz at 'Alpine Sky Tours' for two excellent holidays. It's just a shame that I now live in Canada. I guess I'll have to start saving for the air fare! If you've not flown in the Alps before you don't know what you are missing. Car parking near take off, launch matting/ramps. Cafes at launch and landing. Stunning, massive scenery and great food. I can't wait to be back there.

Day 5

Morning conditions meant there was no flying, but all were keen to get the last out of the fresh fall of snow. We went skiing/snowboarding in Chatel until 12:30. Afterwards we left for Mieussy at approx 1:30 to find that the approach to take-off had been closed due to landslides. Very disappointed at our chance to fly back to the chalet being squashed we continued on to Le Saleve. The wind direction meant that more of the ridge was flyable than usual. Despite relatively strong launch conditions we were soon all up in the air once more. This was the first opportunity I had had to use 'pole cam'. I wanted to try it out first with guaranteed lift and plenty of space (so that I could mess about setting it up in flight with no chance of going down). It worked a treat and I have some interesting shots. As soon as I get my camera fixed you will see.

We grabbed a bite to eat at a local supermarket resturant then off to pub near Chatel for some of their lovely home brew.
